Washington Nationals Tickets

Nicknamed "The Nats", the Washington Nationals are based in the District of Columbia. The team was actually the Montreal Expos from 1969 until 2004 when they relocated to D.C. and chose a new name.

They won their first-ever game, against the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-3 but haven't won any titles or pennants so far. The Nationals' sole Hall of Fame inductee is Frank Robinson, who was the manager of the team but was elected to the Hall based on his playing achievements. Another notable National is Brad Wilkerson, who became Washington's first player to hit a grand slam (against the Los Angeles Dodgers' Duaner Sanchez). The Nationals have played in RFK Stadium since their 2005 arrival in D.C., a venue they share with local soccer team D.C. United of Major League Soccer and the occasional rock concert or World Cup match.

The team is currently owned by Lerner Enterprises and managed by Manny Acta. The bench coach is Pat Corrales and the bullpen is managed by Rick Aponte. Like everything else in the nation's capital, the Washington Nationals team was the subject of much political discussion and disagreement. First the name of the team garnered criticism from senators who objected to the previous "Senators" name, then the ballpark in which they played stirred up controversy around financing and location. Now that all the big decisions have been made, the Nationals hope to put aside the squabbling and focus on building a great baseball team.
