Going into 2007, the team is getting serious about winning and has made some serious investments to facilitate a winning team. New general manager Dayton Moore has already seen to it that the Royals acquire top picks Alex Gordon, Gil Meche and Octavio Dotel to help rebound from a blight of nasty losses.

These recent deals are part of a larger effort to shore up the pitching rotation and the batting lineup as the Royals hope to build anew a team with a winning attitude. That winning attitude will be difficult to come by considering the Royals have the distinction of being the eleventh team in baseball history to lose 100 games or more for three seasons straight.

As the new and improved Royals prepare for a whole new ballgame, fans are taking a deep breath and hoping that this year in Kauffman Stadium will be much, much better than the last 20 have been. The St. Louis Cardinals may have more competition than they bargained for to maintain that World Series title. Kansas City wants it back, and they're ready to fight for it.
