The teams have been at odds with one another since Red Sox owner Harry Frazee sold legendary slugger Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1920, a transaction that marked the beginning of an 86-year losing streak for Boston popularly known as the "Curse of the Bambinio".
A flurry of player trading and sales followed, and by the 1940s the Red Sox had cobbled together a respectable team including legendary .400 hitter Ted Williams. With Williams at bat, the Sox narrowly missed a handful of potential pennants. Rocky times for Boston baseball continued right up until 2004 when the Red Sox broke their streak in a big way with a shocking 4-3 World Series victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Coming into the 2007 schedule, Boston boasts a very competitive lineup featuring several star players including Japanese superstar pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka.
